Mammoth Hospital's Elevate Breast Cancer Awareness Event featured breast cancer survivor and award-winning author Jennifer D. James sharing her hard-earned wisdom of becoming a survivor, the ability to adapt to unforeseen situations, how to proactively self-heal, the importance of love, and the art of living. Event attendees included supportive community members, cancer survivors, caregivers, and Mammoth Hospital providers and staff including Karen Phillips, Mammoth Hospital Spiritual Care Coordinator & Elevate Cancer Support Group Facilitator, and Lisa Marusicz, Mammoth Hospital Chemotherapy Infusion Nurse. Jennifer found her life purpose through her cancer journey and is now committed to opening the conversation around cancer. Jennifer is a trained breast cancer mentor through the American Cancer Society's Reach to Recovery Program, a certified Maurer Foundation breast health educator, and a certified meditation teacher specializing in patient healing and pain management. She is pictured here with longtime friend and Mammoth Hospital supporter Kendra Knight. Jennifer shared her stories, experiences, and artwork with attendees during 2 separate sessions on Monday, October 21st. Her debut memoir Feisty Righty: A Cancer Survivor's Journey received the Gold Medal in the prestigious Evergreen Category through the Living Now Book Awards, a category that commemorates truly world-changing books that contribute to positive global change in this millenium. Jennifer's personal artwork is scheduled to be showcased at the Academy of Oncology Nurse and Patient Navigators' convention in November 2023.
