Intro to Pilates
This 4-week course is designed to introduce participants to fundamental pilates principles and is a prerequisite for participation in our ongoing pilates classes.
This gentle, low-impact class emphasizes alignment, breathing, core control, and motor control. The movement principles learned in this class may be modified to provide beginners with a gentle stability program or seasoned athletes with a progressive challenge.
Mat Pilates
This class offers participants an opportunity to practice pilates movement principles of breathing, alignment, core control, and motor control learned in our introductory series Intro to Pilates.
Flow through a routine beginning in standing with a focus on posture and balance, and transition to the floor with a focus on core control. The low-impact movements promote flexibility, strength, and endurance in an accessible way that can be modified to provide beginners with a gentle stability program or seasoned athletes with a progressive challenge.
Successful completion of our Intro to Pilates course is required for participation in this class, and participants are required to safely and independently access the floor.
Chair Pilates
This class is designed with modifications and slower pacing for participants who may be unable to access the floor due to decreased balance or limited conditioning. It offers participants an opportunity to practice pilates movement principles of breathing, alignment, core control, and motor control learned in our introductory series Intro to Mat Pilates.
Focus will be placed especially on standing posture and balance with some transitional movements including scooting, sit-stand, and modified lunge. Options for seated modifications will be provided as well.
The low-impact movements and gentle pace of this class are especially designed for participants looking to improve balance, posture and fracture risk, and limited conditioning.
Successful completion of our Intro to Pilates course is required for participation in this class.
