Safe Sitter

Safe Sitter courses are designed to prepare participants in grades 6-8 to be safe when they’re babysitting, watching younger siblings, or home alone.

The instructor-led and interactive classes are filled with games, role-playing exercises, hands-on demonstrations, and skills practice using soft-bodied dolls and medical manikins.

  • Safety Skills

    Students learn how to prevent unsafe situations and what to do when faced with dangers such as power failures or weather emergencies.

  • Child Care Skills

    Students learn general ages and stages of child development, pick up tips to manage behavior, and practice diapering.

  • First Aid & Rescue Skills

    Students learn a system to help them assess and respond to injuries and illnesses. They also learn skills such as choking rescue and CPR.

  • Life & Business Skills

    Students practice skills like job screening, discussing fees, and greeting employers.

Schedule:

Safe Sitter Essentials with CPR is offered quarterly on Saturdays from 9:00AM-3:30PM in 2024.

Location:

Elevate Mammoth (121 College Parkway, Mammoth Lakes, CA 93546) in the lobby of the South Gateway Student Apartments building.

Price:

Safe Sitter Essentials with CPR: $75 (includes the cost of a Safe Sitter Student Handbook and course completion card).

Requirements:

Safe Sitter Essentials with CPR is a 6.5-hour course with a 1 instructor : 8 students ratio. Participants should be in grades 6-8 and must have adult/guardian consent & recommendation for participation.

Please register under an adult/guardian account and respond to the confirmation email with the participating child's name and birthdate to be linked to the account.

Enrollment:

You should receive a confirmation email with workshop details upon successful sign up. (Please be sure to opt into scheduling and reminder emails as this is how we will notify you of workshop cancellations and schedule changes as well).

Cancellation:

Classes with less than 3 participants enrolled 24 hours prior to class are subject to cancellation/rescheduling.
