Gain knowledge about the birthing process and build community with other expecting parents.
All are welcome, and participation is highly encouraged for expecting parents in the 2nd or 3rd trimester.

Participants get access to the nationally acclaimed InJoy educational videos, which they can watch prior to class attendance.

The Birthing Course is offered quarterly, typically on a Thursday from 4:30PM - 7:30PM

The Birthing Course is held in our Mammoth location (121 College Parkway, Mammoth Lakes, CA 93546) in the lobby of the South Gateway Apartments building or virtually via Microsoft Teams livestream.
Whether you are limited from attending class in-person due to travel distance, weather conditions, illness, childcare, last-minute schedule wrench, or simply the desire to be in your own home, we want you to gain knowledge about the birthing process and have an opportunity to build community with other expecting parents. All participants are invited to join class virtually through the Microsoft Teams meeting link that will be sent to your registered email the day of class!

The Birthing Course: $30
Mammoth Hospital patients may use their promotional code from the Women’s Health clinic (attached to the InJoy “Understanding Birth: A Comprehensive Guide” booklet) for discounted access to this course.

Participants are encouraged to watch the InJoy educational videos prior to attending class.
Enrollment includes emailed access links to these nationally-acclaimed educational videos:
Understanding Pregnancy: A focus on the 3rd trimester including fetal development & timeline, anatomy, maternal emotions & discomforts, nutrition, exercise, and pregnancy hazards to avoid.
Understanding Labor: A focus on labor signs and onset as well as an overview of labor stages including early labor, active labor, transition, 2nd stage, 3rd stage, & 4th stage.
Brandy’s Birth Story: An unmedicated birth story shows the stages of labor, comfort techniques, and partner support.
Understanding Comfort Techniques: Comfort techniques during labor including a support team, massage, visualization, vocalization, breathing, relaxation, hydrotherapy, labor positions, pushing positions, and pushing techniques.
Understanding Medical Procedures: An introduction to birth plans, BRAIN acronym, induction, monitoring, analgesics, epidurals, augmentation, and 2nd stage interventions that may be part of your birth experience.
Understanding Cesarean Birth: A focus on the reasons for cesareans as well as a discussion of the risks, surgery preparation, anesthesia, and a surgery animation. Breastfeeding and recovery following cesarean will also be discussed.
Understanding Newborns: A look at newborn appearance, immediate medical procedures, the first feeding, newborn senses, crying, Abusive Head Trauma, sleep, and SIDS safety.
Understanding Postpartum: Postpartum education and information including involution, lochia, perineum care, emotions (PPD), support, healthy habits, and breastfeeding.

Notify us of plan changes early! Participant session cancellations with less than 24-hour notification are subject to charge.
